Yacht Crew™ actively supports ocean conservation charities as part of our giving back programme to the oceans of the world and to conservation of the marine life that inhabit these waters.
How you help:
For every time you recruit through Yacht Crew™ you are giving back to the oceans that provide the playground for your pastime. 5% of invoice value is donated to one of the following ocean conservation charities carefully selected & monitored by Yacht Crew™ senior management.
Our input:
Additionally Yacht Crew™ annually selects programmes that we feel are especially prevalent and/or beneficial and donate our time and monetary donation in supporting these many fantastic initiatives.
We will write to you annually to let you know how your contributions are helping to change the quality of our oceans and the face of our world though your valued contributions.
The charities:
Yacht Carbon Offset
A programme specifically for owners of superyachts & megayachts, focused on balancing carbon emissions of your engines with measured reductions in atmospheric greenhouse gases. These projects that would not take place without the financial support derived from your involvement in the Carbon Offset programme through Yacht Crew™.
The principle is to ensure that for each tonne of CO2 emitted by your yacht’s engines, a tonne of CO2e emissions have been saved elsewhere on the planet; through independently approved renewable power, methane recovery, and other notable projects.
The savings are made through independently approved projects such as investments in renewable energies (which displaces fossil-fuelled power generation), energy saving initiatives, or other greenhouse gas reduction projects around the world. By subsidising such carefully selected projects through your Carbon Offset purchase, you are free to enjoy yachting knowing that your carbon dioxide emissions are balanced by equivalent, real savings elsewhere.

Conservation International
If it’s raining where you are, the ocean played a role. When you sail your motor yacht, the seas are absorbing the carbon dioxide from your motor. If you ordered seafood for lunch, it may have travelled halfway around the world to land on your plate.
No matter where you are on Earth, what you do affects the ocean – and what happens to the ocean affects you.
The ocean covers more than two-thirds of the world’s surface. In the past 50 years we have learned more about Earth’s ocean than in all of preceding human history. But, at the same time we learned more, we lost more.
Today, 90 percent of the ocean’s top predators are gone. Entire populations of fish, and the communities and economies they support, have collapsed. Seafloors look like war zones. Corals have been bleached white from chemical runoff. Dead zones – vast swaths of ocean that can no longer support life – are spreading throughout the marine realm.
These critical issues don’t deter us. With our partners, we’ve embarked on a scientific mission that will tell us exactly where species and marine ecosystems are most threatened and what actions we can take to reverse them. Research to date has already helped strengthen three protected “Seascapes” in critical marine areas around the world.
Coordination, management, protection & your contribution:
In order to save the ocean, it’s clear that large-scale action is needed, now. During the past four years, we have helped to develop a new approach to improve ocean governance at scale.
At the core of the Global Marine Division are the CI marine science programs. Sound marine science, combined with innovation and forward thinking, enables us to provide conservation solutions for the challenges of today and tomorrow. Our initiatives include:
- marine climate change,
- gauging ocean health,
- population of marine species,
- the effectiveness of marine protected areas,
- exploring new marine ecosystems,
- and searching for alternatives to traditional fisheries (aquaculture).
The science we conduct feeds directly into our conservation planning and solutions, and drives our actions as we work to better understand the ocean and how best to conserve its benefits for future generations.
Conserving the ocean is a big job, and CI can’t do it alone. The support you provide through Yacht Crew™ is invaluable in tackling ocean conservation.
